Sky Hunters
Environmental Education
Sky Hunters Environmental Education
is a non-profit organization whose specific purpose is to provide natural
history and environmental educational experiences to California residents,
teaching awareness and respect for wildlife using live, native birds of
prey as the model. Besides our standalone programs, we also blend our
programming with other groups including Santa Clara Audubon Society, Palo
Alto Junior Museum, and Golden Gate Raptor Observatory. We are
looking for other associations.
Our Programs
Our programs focus on a unique area
of raptor biology weaving in their connections to all life forms and how
we can better co-exist with our wild neighbors. We believe using
live birds of prey to capture and hold our audience creates a lasting
message of appreciation and responsibility. Using the State of California
Standards for the science curriculum as a guide, we bring novel
instruction and alternate learning methods into local schools. All
presentations will be available to all grade levels. Two birds will
accompany each presentation. Our program fee is $125 for each
one-hour presentation.

Our primary focus
is hour-long programs to groups of fewer than 30 schoolchildren and adults
in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. We also provide presentations
for libraries, corporations, youth groups, and summer camps and
participate in environmental and educational events in the community.
Our Speakers
Our presenters are raptor biologists
with over 15 years each of observing raptors in their natural environment,
rehabilitating injured and orphaned raptors, and participating in USFWS
banding and field studies. Karen and Valerie will bring two
non-releasable birds of prey to your organization and share an outstanding
presentation.
Our Wildlife Ambassadors
Our presentations will feature two
of the following birds and their individual stories:
 | A Great Horned Owl (Bubo
virginianus), |
 | A Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo
lineatus), |
 | A Common Barn Owl (Tyto alba),
and |
 | An American Kestrel (Falco
sparverius). |
Although all are
common, local residents of the San Francisco Bay area, each holds its own
niche representing important environmental concerns.
