Become an EV nature guide!

Since 1972, Environmental Volunteers has been teaching kids to love nature and learning in kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms and on field trips to wild places in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. We work in the classroom and in the field exclusively with groups of eight students or less, ensuring lots of hands-on time and attention to discovery-based, multi-sensory learning.

Our eight programs focus on: Baylands Ecology, Foothills Ecology, Marine Ecology, Nature in Your Neighborhood, Earthquake Geology and Preparedness, Birds & Nests, Water Science & Conservation, and Early California Indian Life: an Environmental Focus.

No experience is required! Only your love of nature and desire to work with children is needed. We provide all the training and materials, and a mentor while you develop your own style of teaching our programs. If you have weekday free-time or flex-time, then join us!

Additional volunteer opportunities include...

bulletStaffing the Palo Alto Baylands Interpretive Center
bulletProduction and marketing of multi-media educational products (videos, CD-ROMs, etc.)
bulletCreating hands-on teaching materials
bulletOrganizing delivery of services to classrooms
bulletWeb-based research

...and more!

We also provide training and professional development for teachers and environmental educators.
